As a youth corper, Jimoh Ibrahim was said to have developed a tax idea which he ‘sold’ to the government at that time. He went on all across the country implementing this idea. That brought him wealth. His ability to stay true to his promises to banks that guarantee him money for his businesses brought him fame and acceptance with them.

Jimoh Ibrahim started his Global Fleet group, and grew that business by buying or taking over dying companies and adding them to his group. Today, he is a giant in the Insurance, Hospitality, Airline(transport), Real Estate, Furniture and other forms of businesses. He is so wealthy that many Nigerians wondered why he was excluded from the Forbes magazine list of world’s richest men.


Two practical lessons stand out as the reason for Jimoh Ibrahim’s inclusion in this text: Boldness(confidence) to take on high risk projects which exemplifies belief in himself and the project. Even if they were dead companies, Jimoh Ibrahim believes he can resuscitate them. Second, Jimoh Ibrahim is credible. Banks are definitely not afraid to guarantee him loans in regions of billions of naira because he is true to his promise. These same are the essential ingredients for growing any small business.
